CALCULUS AB, Advanced Placement
General Description
Prerequisite: Pre-Calculus (recommended C or better)
This challenging course is for college-bound students and will be especially useful for those planning to pursue a career in STEM. Students develop the topics of limits, derivatives, and integration and their formulas for algebraic and transcendental functions. This class follows the College Board AP Calculus AB course guidelines for preparation of the AP Calculus AB exam (fee). Graphing Calculator Required

Critical areas include, but are not limited to:
- Limits and Continuity
- Derivatives and differential equations
- Integration
- Applications including function analysis, motion, optimization, area/volume
- Fundamental Theorem of Calculus
Theory of Action
A Thinking Classroom is one where mathematical reasoning is visible. Students are encouraged to ask questions. Curiosity is fostered and valued. Answers are important, yet it is the mathematical reasoning and communication of ideas that is of utmost importance.
