Prerequisites: Auto Tech I with a C & Auto Tech II with a C+
This course covers diagnosis, service, and repair of automobiles and light trucks. The prime objective is skill development for entry into the automotive technicians industry or post-secondary automotive or diesel programs.
This course prepares students to perform automotive diagnosis and repairs in the following areas: engine repair, cooling systems, transmission and transaxle, manual drive trains and axles, suspension and steering, wheel and tire, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, HVAC, and engine performance. Students are provided with more advanced instruction in all systems as they prepare for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification examinations. The Automotive Technology program provides the fundamental skills necessary to succeed in an ever-changing and challenging industry as an automotive technician.

Automobiles are an essential part of our everyday lives. This course is beneficial to all students. Developing automotive technology skills will help you throughout the rest of your life. Today’s automotive repair industry has taken on a new sophistication. It requires advanced training and diagnostic skills. Automotive classes lend themselves to hands-on learning. Students will understand the theory and operation of an automobile system, proper procedures for diagnosing and repairing automobiles and automobile systems. ASE Education Foundations competencies are integrated into the curriculum through projects and assignments.
