General Description

Prerequisite: English 11 or equivalent recommended

The objective of this class is to provide students with skills and techniques necessary for career readiness and college level literature, writing, and discussions. Texts including non fiction, the classics, and the memoir will be read and analyzed.  A number of writing experiences will be done to ensure students strengthen their academic voice as well as sharing multiple learning experiences in public formats. Students will work towards the completion of their High School and Beyond Plan and the Senior Project.

  • Classical Greek Literature (“The Allegory of the Cave” by Plato and  Oedipus Rex by Sophocles)
  • Exploration of William Shakespeare (The Tragedy of Macbeth)
  • The Senior Project
  • The Memoir/Looking at the Past, Present, and Future  (Tuesdays with Morrie by MItch Albom)
