Why study mathematics?  This has an obvious answer for those planning on becoming an engineer, an architect, or a doctor.  But perhaps the most important reason is because the study of mathematics builds problem solving skills.  All citizens need to know how to reason and analytically think through a problem.  The habits of mind associated with learning mathematics trains our brains to seek solutions in a logical way.  As our society becomes increasingly technology dependent, this need is even more evident.

EHS students need 3 years of high school math for graduation, and most universities recommend 4 years.  EHS offers these required courses as well as a wide range of math electives that will help students prepare for their next steps, whether that is college or the workforce.  No matter the class, the math department at EHS strives to provide students with engaging learning experiences that develop critical thinking skills and deep understanding.
