Geometry of Video Game Design

General Description

Prerequisite: Algebra 1

Turn your love of playing video games into a passion for creating them!  Game design is a large field, drawing from the fields of computer science/programming, creative writing, and graphic design.  Students will use the principles of Geometry to analyze, design, and create interactive games.  In addition to foundational Geometry concepts, instruction will include an overview of 3D graphics, character development, 3D modeling, and music for your graphics.  This course fulfills the graduation requirement for Geometry.

  • Congruence and Similarity
  • Coordinate Geometry
  • Data Analysis through simulation 
  • Use/create algorithms
  • Area, Perimeter, Volume  
  • Angle Relationships
  • 3D Modeling

 

Theory of Action

Students are introduced to exciting and engaging ways they can gain knowledge and skills that help prepare them to be career and college ready in the 21st century. Hands on, project based assignments are designed to spark interest, ignite imagination and foster creativity. Students see how core subjects are connected through authentic learning projects that challenge students to create, communicate, collaborate and solve problems.
