MILITARY HISTORY

General Description

Prerequisite: None

Students will spend the semester learning about military operations from around the world.  Students will examine the origin and evolution of various military operations and explore how technological advancements aid in the creation and development of military strategy in a variety of nations.  Students will also research and complete projects that examine the United States Armed Services origin, expansion and development both organizationally and technologically.  Finally, students will study key battles that mark significant moments of achievement for various militaries throughout history as well as key failures that changed military operations forever. 
 

Content

To understand the history of the world’s military forces an examination of key figures, battles, developments and technology is required.  A blend of guest speakers, career professionals, research and presentation models will be used to examine these and other topics as students gain a basic understanding of military history and how it affects the world.

Enumclaw High School Social Studies Teachers are passionate about the wide-ranging subject matter that we teach. We believe History, Psychology, Civics, Contemporary Issues and the various interest-based classes we offer promote an informed citizenry ready to participate in the future of our country. The Social Studies Department is committed to developing authentic learning experiences in our various curricula designed to engage students through promoting a deeper understanding of the world around us.
