Dear Enumclaw School District Community,
Welcome back! The 2025–26 school year has finally arrived, and it was clear from the very first day just how much our staff and students missed one another over the summer. I had the privilege of witnessing many joyful reunions, students and families greeting, and in some cases hugging, former teachers and staff members who had played such an important role in their lives last year.
Equally inspiring were the moments of connection with new teachers and staff, each ready to begin the important work of building relationships and learning about the needs and goals of the students they get to serve this year. Many of these first connections took place at back-to-school ice cream socials and orientation events thoughtfully organized by each of our schools. Our building principals were also deeply engaged, welcoming families, sharing areas of focus for their schools, and ensuring that students felt excited and prepared to begin this new chapter.
As I begin my third decade of “first days of school,” I can honestly say this one was every bit as joyful and energizing as my very first day as a classroom teacher. I encourage you to take time this year to learn more about what your students’ teachers hope to give to each student left in their charge, and the many ways you can support both students and teachers on this 2025–26 learning journey.
It is going to be a fantastic year of growth, learning, and partnership. We are so grateful to walk alongside you in this work and so excited for what lies ahead!
With appreciation,
Shaun
