EHS students and staff at the Superior Court

Matt Gerhardt, EHS Social Studies teacher and Rob Lightbody, EHS Science and CTE teacher, took a group of EHS students on a field trip on Tuesday.  These were students from their Criminal Law and Justice and Forensics classes who spent the day visiting the King County Superior Court in Seattle on November 7th. They were able to meet with industry experts and observe elements and processes of a criminal and/or civil court case in real life. The schedule of events included meeting with a judge at the courthouse for a 45 min. Q& A session, 30 min. talking with a jury room manager and 1 hour of actual courtroom observation. This was a great opportunity for students to get real world experience and see what the trial process is like in preparation for the Mock Trials and which provide additional insight and reflection into the legal process and potential career opportunities.  After the field trip to Seattle, students were able to reflect on their experience with a class discussion and through the completion of the mock trial simulations in class.
