Last week was a great week to be Eric Heintzinger. Eric is an EHS automotive teacher and was recently nominated and chosen as "Rookie of the Year" by WITEA (Washington Industrial Technology Educational Association). This award is given to someone who has exhibited high-quality teaching, dedication to the profession, and preparation of students for their future.
Eric also received some exciting news regarding a grant he had applied for in December. The grant was for new shop equipment and a small engine training program. He received the news this past Tuesday that the grant has been awarded for $110,000! When asked how this will impact his program, he stated, "This will be huge for moving the shop rebuilding project toward completion and will generate so much excitement for our Auto students!"
If that wasn't enough to make him grin from ear to ear, he was notified that one of his second-year auto students had made it past the regionals and on to the State Skills USA competition for small engines! This program is an awesome opportunity for kids in trades to learn professional skills and build confidence in their craft!
We are so fortunate to have Eric at EHS. If you happen to see him, please congratulate him on his recent successes!
