Enumclaw High School (EHS) proudly hosted its first-ever Career and Cultural Carnival, a dynamic event designed to celebrate the end of the school year while preparing students for their futures. The carnival took place on Friday, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a special schedule to cater to both high school students and the wider community.
From 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM, the carnival was exclusively open to high school students. In the afternoon, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the gates opened to the community of Enumclaw and the surrounding areas, allowing everyone to experience the exciting new format of this annual event.
This year marked a significant change as EHS combined its traditional end-of-year carnival with a Career and Technical Education Trades and Career Fair. The result was a vibrant and interactive event featuring over 50 partners and vendors, including local and community agencies.
Highlights of the carnival included:
Interactive Trades and Career Fair: Students and community members engaged with various professionals who provided career demonstrations and shared future employment opportunities. This hands-on experience was invaluable in helping students understand different career paths.
Car and Equipment Showcases: The EHS Auto Club showcased a range of vehicles and equipment, sparking interest in automotive careers.
Live Music: Talented EHS students performed live music, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Face Painting: The EHS Art Club offered creative face painting, delighting attendees of all ages.
Cultural Food Trucks: A variety of food trucks served cultural delicacies, giving students a taste of different cuisines and promoting cultural diversity.
Students were provided with vendor/activity "passports" to take with them as they explored the different vendor presentations and interactive booths. These passports included a list of questions students might ask vendors about their careers, such as “Can you describe your typical day?”, “Does your job take any special talents?” and “Is your job mainly physical strain, mental strain, or both?” This initiative encouraged students to engage deeply with each vendor and gain valuable insights into various careers.
The event was well-attended, and the beautiful weather contributed to the fun and energetic atmosphere. The community came together, building relationships and collaborating to prepare students for their futures.
The EHS Career and Cultural Carnival was not just an end-of-year celebration but a meaningful event that equipped students with knowledge, connections, and inspiration for their future careers. Enumclaw High School looks forward to continuing this new tradition and further strengthening the bonds between education, career opportunities, and the community.
