Enumclaw School District's open referral period is September 3 - September 27 for grades 3, 4, and 6-11. Referrals are due before September 27th, 2024 at 4:00 pm.
If a student is already in the program, do they need to be screened each year to remain in the program?
Elementary: If a student has already qualified, that student will remain in the HCP program through 5th grade and be re-screened for middle school qualification.
Middle and High School: If a student has already qualified, the qualification remains through graduation.
Why would you screen a High School Student?
Testing a student's cognitive ability in high school isn't necessarily for academics, but it could provide insight into behaviors and habits.
What is the HighlyCapableProgram?
Highly Capable Services are designed for students identified as advanced learners through cognitive and/or academic performance.
We provide services and offer programs for students whose needs are beyond the scope of the general education classroom. Our services are designed to provide a challenging, integrated, and enriched curriculum.
Students are identified for Highly Capable services in a two-step process: universal screening and assessment.
The referral form below is for parents, guardians, extended family members, educators, and community members to use when referring a student to the 24-25 Highly Capable Program. If a student is eligible, services will begin immediately, as needed. Please note: if the person referring the student is not the parent/guardian, we will still need permission from the student's parent or guardian to assess the student. Parents and Guardians may also give permission to test through this form: Highly Capable Referral Form
